Looking for a festive way to brighten up your home that doesn't involve a huge 6ft Christmas tree? Here is a list of small decorative plants to fit into your home.
1. Small fir tree
If you wish to remain traditional, but at the fraction of the price, what could be better than a real, miniature Christmas tree. Potted trees have a tendency to dry out quicker indoors than outdoors. If you want to keep it inside, it is important to water it daily. One way to keep the moisture in is to top the soil in moss to prevent water loss from evaporation. You can still decorate this tree with bauble and lights to keep the Christmas spirit.

2. Poinsettia
This vibrant flower is normally tropical, but it is still associated with the festive season. This festive flower is usually red and can also come in pink or yellow. These kind of plants need a warm environment to thrive so they should be fine indoors. For watering, it's best to wait until the soil is dry to touch before watering again. Be careful if you have pets as if the leaves are eaten, your pet could become very sick.

3. Christmas cactus
If you are the kind of person to forget to maintain their flowers, this is the plant for you! Keep the cactus in humid and warm places such as a kitchen as they are used to tropical climates. This doesn't require a lot of water and blossoms just in time for December.

4. Azaleas
This evergreen plant is well loved during the Winter seasons as it blooms from winter to early spring and adds brightness to the home. This plant doesn't require a lot of sunlight, so it can be kept in a shaded area. These plants prefer cool areas and you should never let the water dry out completely. These flowers require a bit more care than your average plant, but it is a great edition to your plant collection.

5. Winter cherry
This is a good type of a berry plant without being spiky like Holly. In Summer, it blooms with bright white flowers, then forms small red berries. This plant will last throughout the winter months if kept in a cool setting. Warning, the berries are toxic for animals so avoid if you have pets. Never let the soil get too dry and keep it moist.
