I know that everyone has different ideas on what 'the North' is, but Ice Shack doesn't care what you think as long as you're friendly!

This Manchester-based vegan dessert cafe first opened in May 2016 as a vegetarian and vegan parlour.

Ice Shack becomes 100% vegan in April 2017, and has since been recognised as one of the best vegan places in the city by ILOVEMANCHESTER, The Northern Niche, Creative Taste, The Manchester Evening News, and is recognised nationally by Taste.

But what makes it so great?

First of all, the menu is very in-depth. They offer 33 different flavours of ice cream, with 22 flavours available in their freezers each day.

There are also 15 types of cake, and three gluten free cakes on offer, with the ability to order an entire cake for just £18!

When I went in there, I was accompanied by two vegan friends, and my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I are both non-vegans but that didn't stop us from tucking in!

Our party ordered two ice creams, a slice of cake, and two bags of truffles.

The ice cream was absolutely beautiful, the best ice cream I've ever tasted! I had a scoop of Salted Caramel and a scoop of Caramel Cookie in a cone for £2.80.

My friend enjoyed his Oreo cake, and my boyfriend was half-way through his Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream before I'd even finished paying.

We sat in the cafe for about half an hour, playing some of the many board games available. Tap water is available at the counter whenever you're thirsty, so you don't even have to wait to be served!

The parlour also hosts a wide variety of events, including circuit training, a games night, and a charity curry night.

Thoughts: Reasonably price, very tasty, friendly atmosphere!
